There are a number of stations within walking distance of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Stratford has services to and from London Liverpool Street, Norwich, and Ipswich, while Stratford International has services to and from St Pancras International, Dover, and Margate via Ashford International. Both stations are also on the London Underground. Also close to the park is Hackney Wick, for the London Overground, and Pudding Mill Lane for the Docklands Light Railway.
If you're travelling to the park via Stratford station, there are signs within the station that will point you in the right direction of the park via Westfield Shopping Centre. If you're travelling to the park from Hackney Wick, exit the station onto White Post Lane and head past The Yard Theatre, turn left and keep walking over the bridge until you reach the park.
Spend a fun day out with your family and friends at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Have a nice stroll around the grounds and discover the different kinds of colourful flowers and plants on show, enjoy a nice picnic under the trees or pose for a picture under the Olympic Rings.
Visit the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park official website for opening information.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was created for the 2012 London Olympic Games, and following redevelopments after the games it was opened to the public in 2013. Within the park are a number of sporting venues, including the London Stadium - the new home of West Ham United FC and British Athletics - the London Velopark, the London Aquatics Centre, and the Copper Box, a multi-use arena used for sport and community events.
Between these venues, the park has been landscaped, and now has a wide range of outdoor features, including playgrounds, open-air displays relating to the Olympic Games, gardens, wetlands and food and drink outlets. The former athletes' village on the edge of the park is now a residential development. Following the River Lea or the River Lee Navigation, footpaths link the park to the Hackney Marshes via the Wick Woodland.
One of the most striking aspects of the park is the ArcelorMittel Orbit, a 376-foot observation tower. If you have a head for heights, you can enjoy commanding views across the park, its various venues and the London skyline beyond. Although most of the attractions of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park are free, the ArcelorMittel Orbit does have an admission fee of £10.75 *for adults (reduced for children, students, and seniors).
