It's easy to reach Newcastle Castle by rail. Hop on a train to Newcastle station, which is served by LNER, CrossCountry and TransPennine Express services from London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. From Newcastle Station it's just a 6-minute walk to Newcastle Castle. Simply exit the station, and head down Neville Street, which becomes Collingwood Street. Turn right onto St Nicholas Street, go under the bridge and the castle will be on your left-hand side.
If you're in Newcastle, the Castle is a must-see attraction. Indeed, the landmark gave the city its name! The stone tower and gatehouse are a wonderfully preserved slice of medieval history, fun for kids and adults alike.
