The Isle of Wight Steam Railway connects to the Island Line railway network at Smallbrook Junction station. Trains on the Island Line run along the east side of the Isle of Wight, connecting to the mainland at Ryde Pier Head via a ferry to Portsmouth Harbour. As such, getting to the Steam Railway is super-easy whether you’re already on the Isle of Wight or travelling from elsewhere.
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway runs through six miles of scenic countryside, passing through three lovingly restored stations – Ashley, Havenstreet and Wootton. At Havenstreet, hop off to discover the museum and Train Story Discovery Centre, or sit down for a picnic in the nearby field. A journey on the Steam Railway makes for a fantastic addition to a trip to the Isle of Wight.
