Ilfracombe is a brilliant day out and well worth a visit to this remote and very beautiful part of Devon. There's been a harbour at Ilfracombe since at least the 12th Century and it is now a bustling, vibrant hub for locals and tourist alike. It's still a working harbour today with fish and seafood landed daily its no surprise that this great, fresh produce makes a very short hop across the road to a number of restaurants.

How to get to Ilfracombe Harbour by train
Ilfracombe Harbour is about an hour away from the nearest train station, so if you are planning on visiting you may want to catch the bus for the final leg! For the first part of your seaside adventure head to Barnstaple railway station which is at the end of the scenic Tarka branch line from Exeter. You can then hop on a bus from outside the station (stop B) and catch either the number 21 service via Braunton or number 301 via the hospital. Taking a taxi is another option and by car takes around 30 minutes.
