The best way to reach the Epping Ongar Railway is to catch a train to London Liverpool Street, then hopping on the London Underground Central Line (eastbound), and staying on to the end of the line to Epping station. From Epping, the 339 vintage bus service will take you to North Weald station – one of the main stops on the Epping Ongar Railway, restored to its pre-WW2 appearance.

More about the Epping Ongar Railway
The heritage railway line consists of two beautifully restored stations, North Weald and Ongar, plus a final stop at Epping Forest where the service terminates. You’ll roll through the East Anglian countryside on a classic steam or diesel locomotive, with the chance to hop off and experience what each station has to offer, as passengers would have done all those decades ago. Both North Weald and Ongar have spots to enjoy a bite to eat. Ongar has been restored to authentic 1880s condition, complete with a micro-gallery and original Great Eastern Railways signal box.
Be sure to foray outside the stations to the quaint surrounding villages. Chipping Ongar is a historical market town home to independent shops and historic buildings – well worth a wander around!
