The nearest station to Dover Castle is Dover Priory, which is served by trains on the South Eastern Main Line from London St Pancras International and London Victoria. From Dover Priory it's roughly a 26-minute walk to the castle. There's also the option of catching a 93 bus from Priory Street (Stop E) heading towards Deal, which will take you to Dover Castle in five minutes. From there it's a two-minute walk to the castle.

About Dover Castle
Perched on top of the White Cliffs of Dover, Dover Castle is the largest fortress in England and has been described as The Key to England due to its strategic importance, commanding, as it does, the most natural invasion route for England's would-be conquerors.
While a fortification has stood on the site since at least Saxon times, it was William the Conqueror and Henry II who created today's high medieval castle, with one of the last rectangular keeps ever built, at its heart. The castle still played a strategic role well into the 18th century with the addition of vast defenses to guard against Napoleonic invasion. And in 1940, the tunnels beneath the castle housed a military hospital and command centre, from where Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of British and Allied troops from Dunkirk, was coordinated.
Visitors can enjoy every chapter of Dover Castle's long and dramatic history, from its Roman lighthouse and Saxon ruins to living recreations of its medieval feasting halls and kitchens, and vivid depictions of the roles it played in WW2.
