Big Ben is one of London's most famous landmarks and recognised across the world instantly and a must-see tourist attraction whilst visiting London. Technically, Big Ben is the nickname given to the huge bell that can be heard ringing out across the river Thames as it strikes. The bell tower itself is formally known as Elizabeth Tower having been renamed in 2012 to mark the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
If you are looking for a great photo Big Ben looks even more impressive at night when the four clock faces are illuminated. For a great view of the Houses of Parliament, you might want to head across Westminister bridge and look back over to the north bank of the river.
