There are a couple of stations close to Anfield, but most visitors use Sandhills, 1.3 miles to the west of the stadium and about 30 minutes' walk away. On match days, The Soccerbus shuttles between Sandhills and the stadium for two hours before kick-off and 50 minutes after final whistle. Buses also come from Liverpool Lime Street and from Queen's Square, opposite the station. Regular trains to Sandhills come from Liverpool Central, Kirkby, Southport and Ormskirk.

There are few football stadiums in the world as iconic as Anfield, home of Liverpool Football Club and The Kop’, the famous stand behind the goal named after a hill in South Africa and a battle during the Boer War. Anfield has been Liverpool's home ground since the club was founded in 1892, but it has changed a lot over the years and is changing again as part of a major redevelopment that will see its capacity rise from 49,000 to 54,000.
It is the demand for tickets that has necessitated this development, and it is true that getting your hands on a ticket to see Liverpool play is no easy matter. Most games at Anfield sell out, but, if you're lucky, you can get tickets for low-profile fixtures as the majority are snapped up before they make it to general sale.
An easier way to get inside the ground is to join one of the daily stadium tours and visit the Liverpool FC Story, an interactive exhibition exploring the history of a club that has won numerous national and European honours. Admission to the exhibition starts at £9, with the tour (including exhibition) starting at £17.
