These calculations, based on CO2/passenger km for an average petrol car and national rail during the 2023 calendar year, uses government greenhouse gas reporting conversion factors. It compares the carbon emissions saved to those removed by a mangrove tree, with calculations indicating that one tree eliminates 308kg (0.3 tonnes) of CO2 annually over its 25-year lifespan. Based on the number of trees, and the planting area the size needed would exceed the Peak District's size of 1,438 km².

This analysis includes all customer orders from January 2019 to the present date. Only completed journeys are considered; any future, untraveled journeys are excluded. Refunds, season tickets, and railcards are not included in this analysis, which pertains solely to individual travel bookings. Additionally, for any journey to be counted toward milestone achievements, it must have been completed between December 2023 and November 2024. A return journey is counted as two trips.
