What is a Super Route?

Our Super Routes are cheaper and/or faster (but always greener) than driving. Which means they'll save you time, money AND CO2! Win for you, win for the planet.

What makes our Super Routes so super?

Well, we're so glad you asked. It’s because making sustainable choices can often feel like too many questions and not enough answers.

How much CO2 is too much CO2? Can you recycle those weird plastic sleeves? Should I sell my car? What does 1.5 degrees mean? Is it too late?

It's a lot right? Yeah, it's a lot.

It's our job (and one we love doing) to help make greener choices easier. To make choosing train over car a no-brainer wherever possible. That means helping to remove the things standing in the way of getting the train.

And two of those things are time and money.

So, that's where our Super Routes come in. We’ve done our research and found all the cheaper, faster, and more sustainable routes, so you don’t have to.

Here's how we calculated it all

In the past year, our customers have saved

£48 million by travelling on Super Routes.

Cheaper

7,380 UK train routes

are cheaper than driving.

Faster

7,255 UK train routes

are faster than driving.

Greener

Taking the train is 67% less

polluting than driving a petrol car.

Swapping just one journey from car to train is an amazing way to cut your CO2 impact.

If you took the Super Route from London to Birmingham, you'd be saving 14.8kg CO2. That's the same as...

How we worked it all out

(hint: it involved a lot of maths)

Based on Trainline data (customers purchases) between October 2022 and October 2023.
