Travelling from Luton to Glasgow by train gives you the opportunity to see the West Midlands, before entering the Scottish Lowlands and arriving at Glasgow Central station. After taking a Thameslink service from Luton into London St Pancras, it’s a quick change by foot or by tube using the Victoria line to Euston, before travelling up to Glasgow on an Avanti West Coast (formerly Virgin Trains) train. All Avanti West Coast (formerly Virgin Trains) on this line come with First Class carriages and a buffet car known as The Foodbar, which serves hot and cold food and drink throughout the day. There's also a Quiet Coach, ideal for work or rest, while those sat in First Class can enjoy complimentary WiFi (passengers seated in Standard can pay a small fee for the service). Visit our Thameslink page to get more information on what onboard services are available on the next part of your journey.
The train from Luton to Glasgow first takes you into London St Pancras International. From there, it's a quick hop on the Victoria line to Euston, where an Avanti West Coast (formerly Virgin Trains) train will take you all the way to Glasgow. The train from London to Glasgow doesn’t stop until you reach Warrington in Lancashire, giving you a great opportunity to window gaze as you glide past Milton Keynes, the Midlands, Coventry and the North of Birmingham. Once you leave Warrington, you'll climb up through the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, giving you some great views from either side of the train, so avoid an aisle seat if you can. Not before long, you’ll pass Carlisle and into Scotland, where the scenery changes and you get to witness the fantastic scenery of the Scottish Lowlands. Finally, you'll reach Glasgow Central, an iconic station.
