Wickford station is a few minutes' walk from the high street of this small town in the south of Essex. Located on the Shenfield-to-Southend line, the station has contributed to Wickford becoming a popular commuter town for London, thanks to its direct services to Liverpool Street, which take around 40 minutes. There are usually three trains to London per hour, rising to seven at peak times. In the opposite direction towards the coast, trains to Southend Victoria take just over 20 minutes and the usual off-peak service is also three trains per hour. The other line that serves Wickford is the Crouch Valley branch line connecting passengers with Southminster on the rural Dengie peninsula, at one point running right alongside the River Crouch estuary. About two miles south of Wickford station is the 50-acre Wick Country Park, which has been transformed from farming land with walking trails, a lake, ponds, play area, open meadows and hedgerows.

First Class Lounge

The main entrance and ticket hall are reached down Station Approach off the High Street. Outside there's a pay-and-display car park and cycle racks. Through the ticket hall, you'll come to platform 2 for trains to Southend Victoria, and along to the left is platform 1 for Southminster. Also on platform 2, you'll find a newsagent, taxi office and accessible toilet. Trains to London Liverpool Street depart from platform 3. Access between platforms is by stairs and a bridge, so passengers requiring step-free access to London trains need to use the Market Avenue entrance on the other side of the tracks, where there's also a ticket machine.
