Tulse Hill in Lambeth, south London, can trace its urban development to the arrival of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway in 1868. The current station buildings date back to the same period, but today they are rather busier - Tulse Hill's most important services are commuter trains towards London Bridge, arriving in just 20 minutes. Trains also run from here to West Croydon, Beckenham, St Albans and Luton, in addition to a morning service to Brighton.
The main shopping and commercial area of the neighbourhood is on the streets immediately surrounding the station, particularly the bustling Norwood Road, which you can reach via a short walk along Station Rise or down a footpath alongside the railway tracks. The popular Brockwell Park, with an open-air pool and regular events, lies between Tulse Hill and neighbouring Herne Hill, and is a ten-minute walk to the north of the station.
