Trains to Truro travel along the mainline between Penzance and London Paddington, with direct services to Plymouth and Edinburgh. The station is also served by the Night Riviera Sleeper – one of only two sleeper services in the UK – which runs six nights a week.
Arriving into Truro train station from the east is a spectacular experience as trains pass over two viaducts above the city, including the dramatic Carvedras Viaduct, originally built from wood to designs by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and replaced with stone in 1902.
As the county town of Cornwall, Truro is also its only city, and as such it's the centre of administration, leisure and retail for the county. The city centre is to the east of the station, with its mix of independent shops, art galleries, bars and restaurants. Other attractions include the Gothic-revival Truro Cathedral and the Royal Cornwall Museum, with its exhibits on Cornwall’s history and culture.

Truro train station has three platforms. The main station buildings house a ticket counter and machines, car rental and a cafe. The entrance to platforms 1 (for the Falmouth branch line) and 2 (towards Penzance) are through ticket barriers. There is a second entrance to the station with ticket machines and barriers leading to platform 3 (towards London). The two sides of the station are linked by two footbridges, but neither has lifts. The nearest bus stop is on Station Road, outside the main building.
Truro train station has two car parks - a short-stay car park on Station Road and a long-stay car park on Access Road. Step-free access is available at both car parks.
