Streatham Hill is a busy station in the London Borough of Lambeth, used for over 2.5 million journeys every year with services to and from London Victoria, London Bridge (via Crystal Palace) and Sutton (via West Croydon). The main entrance is right at the north end of Streatham High Road, at its junction with Leigham Court Road. Tooting Bec Common is just over 10 minutes' walk west of the station and the popular open-air swimming pool at Tooting Bec Lido is about a mile away at the south end of the common.
Dating back to 1856, Streatham Hill station was the first of three stations built to serve the district of Streatham - Streatham and Streatham Common being the other two - and contributed to its development as a thriving commercial and residential area in the mid-19th century. In 2009, a refit of the station was completed replacing all the staircases and installing lifts to both platforms.
