Trains to St Andrews Road

Springfield railway station is used by the little community of Springfield and the surrounding villages in Fife. It was opened in the mid-19th century and today is managed by Abellio ScotRail. It’s little used with an average of just 2-3 passengers passing through each day. There are no facilities for purchasing tickets at the station, so they must either be bought online in advance or on board the train with the conductor. There are smartcard validators though should you be using your pass. It’s an unmanned station with little more than waiting shelters, timetable posters and the original footbridge connecting the two platforms. The old stationmaster’s house sits on one side of the tracks, though it was sold off to a private investor some time ago. There is a morning and evening departure each day direct to Edinburgh Waverley in 1 hour 4 minutes.

Springfield might be small, but don’t forget to bring your clubs because you won’t want to miss an afternoon out on the sunny Elmwood Golf that lies right next to the station.
