Trains to Southend East

Southend East railway station lies in the Southchurch district of Southend-on-Sea some 36 miles east of central London. It was opened in the early 1930s along the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway Line. Some years later, the name was changed to Southend-on-Sea East, and then reverted to its original name in the late 1960s. Unfortunately, the main station building was torn down in 2003, though there are plenty of plenty of facilities including toilets, self-service machines, waiting rooms and baby-changing facilities as well as a ticket office open during peak hours. The two-platform station might look small, but it serves more than 1.7 million passengers every year, mostly commuters heading to and from London for work. There are several trains an hour direct to London Fenchurch Street in 58 minutes and five direct services to Shoeburyness in 7 minutes.

You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do near Southend East. If you’ve brought the kids, be sure to take them to the Sealife Adventure to catch a glimpse of the sharks or Adventure Island to ride the coasters.
