South Merton railway station is used by the community of Morden in the South London. It was originally planned to have been built in 1910, though due to outbreak of Wrold War 1, construction of the station was delayed until the late ’20s. It serves over 100,000 passengers a year, most of which use their Oyster cards as the station falls within Travelcard zone 4. It has two platforms laid across an island formation and includes facilities like a canopy roof to provide shelter, timetable posters and digital passenger information displays. There isn’t a ticket office, but passengers can buy tickets from the self-service machine. There is an hourly direct service to St Albans City in 1 hour 22 minutes and one every half hour minutes to London St Pancras International in 47 minutes.
When you step off at South Merton, you’ll be within a few minutes’ walk of plenty of outdoor space. Right next to the station you’ll find the Mostyn Gardens, while just a little further away you can walk around the Morden Hall Park that lies along the banks of the River Wandle.
