Trains to Shortlands

Shortlands railway station serves the Bromley neighbourhood of Shortlands in South London just 10 miles or so from the capital’s centre. It opened in the mid-19^th century by the then West end of London and Crystal Palace Railway as a commuter stop into the city. Just before the turn of the 20^th century, it was fully rebuilt and expanded to meet the passenger demand and the original red-brick station buildings are still in use as the ticket office today. The two-platform station managed by Southeastern might look small, but it’s used by more than 1.5 million passengers a year. There’s a train every half hour to London Victoria in 27 minutes and southbound to Orpington in 14 minutes.

One of the biggest draws to the district is the nearby Shortlands Golf Club, a lengthy rolling green punctuated by trees and sandy bunkers. Here, you can practise your drive along the fairways before nabbing a drink and a bite to eat in the clubhouse.
