Trains to Shawlands

Shawlands railway station is used by the residents of Shawlands, a southern neighbourhood of Glasgow. It was opened just before the turn of the 20^th century when the Cathcart Circle Line was extended. Later in the ‘60s, the line was electrified by British Rail. The station has an island layout with two platforms which are managed along with the trains that pass through by Abellio ScotRail. There is no ticket office, but there are facilities for purchasing tickets from the platform’s self-service machines. It’s a basic station with modern waiting shelters and digital passenger displays, but little else. Getting into the city is a breeze with two direct trains an hour to Glasgow Central in 12 minutes.

When you step off at Shawlands, you’ll be a stone’s throw away from the wildlife-rich Pollock Country Park which houses the historic Pollok House and Garden, The Burrell Collection and Pollok Golf Course.
