Originally opened in 1842, Polmont train station is situated on the Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk Line, and also receives services between Edinburgh and Stirling. Train services at this station are operated by Abellio ScotRail. The typical off-peak service is four trains per hour in each direction, running eastbound to Edinburgh Waverley and westbound to Stirling or Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High. The station serves the village of Polmont near Falkirk and is also the closest station for southern parts of Grangemouth.  

Polmont train station has two platforms. There is level access from the car park to platform 1 and access to platform 2 is via a steep ramp from Station Road. A connection between the platforms is possible by a footbridge with stairs or via the Station Road overbridge. There is a ticket office and toilet facilities in the concourse on platform 1. Local bus connections can be found on Station Road.
