Trains to Parbold

Parbold train station is situated on the Manchester to Southport Line, serving the villages of Parbold and Newburgh with trains operated by Northern. Trains from Parbold train station travel to Southport and Manchester, with fastest direct journey times of 20 minutes and 51 minutes respectively. Services run twice an hour in each direction on weekdays and hourly on Sundays. 

The station opened in 1855, allowing workers to commute from the area. At first, it was named Newburgh. Since then, there have been at least five name changes which have seen the station switch between Newburgh for Parbold, Parbold for Newburgh, and Parbold. The original signal box and an early stone station building are still in use today. The station has two platforms, which can be accessed by a subway under the line or via separate ramp access from Station Road, which crosses over a level crossing. There is also a ticket hall, staffed part-time, and toilets and shelters on the platforms for waiting passengers.
