Trains to Orrell

Located in the Orrell area of Wigan in Greater Manchester, Orrell Railway Station sees regular trains operated by Northern on the Wigan to Kirkby Branch Line. Services run on an hourly basis during off-peak hours throughout the week, with trains from Orrell running directly eastbound to Wigan Wallgate and Manchester Victoria via Walkden and westbound to Kirkby. Passengers for onward travel to Liverpool should change at Kirkby. Trains do not operate from Orrell Station on Sundays or in late evenings.  

Orell Station is unstaffed and has no ticketing provision of any sort, so passengers should take care to buy their tickets on the train or in advance. Waiting shelters with seating are provided on each platform, and train running information is provided on digital departure screens and timetable poster boards. However, as the station is located within a cutting below street level, access is via stairs from the footbridge only, making it unsuitable for those requiring step-free access. (
