Trains to Nunthorpe

Nunthorpe Railway Station serves the Nunthorpe suburb of Middlesbrough with regular Northern trains operating on the Esk Valley Line. Trains from Nunthorpe operate four times each way daily, running to Middlesbrough and Whitby. Additionally, one train runs hourly to and from Middlesbrough and Newcastle on the Durham Coast Line, with two trains substituting Darlington for Newcastle. On Sundays, the Middlesbrough to Whitby trains run four times each way.  

A basic unstaffed station, the original railway buildings are now in use as private accommodation. There are no ticketing provisions present at Nunthorpe, so passengers should purchase tickets prior to travel or on the train from the guard. There are waiting areas with seating installed for passenger use on both platforms, with platform 2 having a shelter and platform 1 having a canopied area near the original building. Train running information is provided via digital departure and arrival screens, timetable poster boards, and via telephone. Both platforms have step-free access.
