Nuneaton station in Warwickshire dates back to 1847 and is served by three railway lines: the West Coast Main Line, the Birmingham-Leicester-Peterborough Line and the Nuneaton to Coventry branch line. Between 1924 to 1969, it was known as Nuneaton Trent Valley so as not to be confused with the now-closed Nuneaton Abbey Street station - and many locals still refer to the station as Trent Valley.
A one-time textiles and manufacturing hub, the post-WW2 slump was warded off in Nuneaton by the railway, as the town's growing transport network developed the area into the commuter stronghold that it remains to this day. The station is ever evolving to meet commuters' needs, most recently in 2004 when platforms 6 and 7 were added to provide services to Stansted Airport. The multi-million pound Ropewalk Shopping Centre, opened in 2005, is one of the town's star attractions and is only ten minutes' walk from the station.
