New Barnet train station is in the London Borough of Barnet, north London, just north of Moorgate within Zone 5. The station lies on the East Coast Main Line between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley.
First opened in 1850 - and known simply as Barnet - it now offers regular services to London Kings Cross and Moorgate from platform 1, and to Welwyn Garden City from platform 2.
East Barnet Road, just north of the station, is the district's main commercial and retail area, boasting a large supermarket and a good mix of independent retailers and coffee shops. There are also several traditional pubs, such as The Railway Tavern and The Railway Bell.
Walk a little further north from East Barnet Road and you'll come to the stunning Pymmes Brook Trail, an area of green open space that is home to several playing fields and a neat bowls lawn.
