Knaresborough station serves the historic spa town of Knaresborough in North Yorkshire, on the Harrogate Line between Starbeck and Cattell. Opened in 1851, it has seen two major redevelopments, but the most recent was back in 1890 - so there's still plenty of character in the station buildings today. Services run half-hourly Monday to Saturday, heading to Leeds in the west, and to York in the east. The same service operates hourly on Sundays.
Knaresborough sees an influx of visitors on the last Saturday of June, when crowds gather for the town's annual Bed Race, which was first staged in the 1966. The Knaresborough Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts also brings travellers to the town, with a wide array of shows, exhibitions and events held every August. For visitors at any other time of year, the town boasts a small high street with plenty of local independent shops. It's just a few minutes' walk from the station.
