Opened in 1850 at the same time as the Chester to Manchester line, Frodsham train station is a Grade II listed building which was restored back in 2012. The station is unstaffed, but you can buy a ticket from the self-service machine on the platform. Please be aware these ticket machines do not accept cash so payment must be with major debit and credit cards only. The station has shelters on each platform and wheelchair access onto both sides. The platforms are connected via a footbridge.

On platform 2 the station is served by hourly trains to Manchester Piccadilly with a few these being extended onto Manchester airport. This journey takes around 50 minutes from Frodsham train station, with the last direct train being at 22:04. On platform 1 the service also leaves hourly and runs to Chester with only one stop between. The service to Chester is a short 16-minute journey (approximately), with most trains continuing on to Llandudno.
