Exeter Central train station is one of the three main train stations within Exeter. Located to the East of Queen Street, this station is the most central within the city. The station was built in 1860 and known as Queen street until it was rebuilt in 1933. The station has three platforms, with facilities such as a ticket office open from Monday to Sunday, ticket machines, waiting rooms and refreshment facilities are available. There are direct trains available to Exeter St Davids, the fastest route taking just 3 minutes. Trains direct to both London Waterloo and London Paddington are also available from Exeter Central. Direct trains to Barnstaple run daily and take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The central location of the station means that tourist attractions are just a walk away with the Historic Quayside being just a 10-minute walk and Exeter Cathedral is a 6-minute walk from the station.
