Cooden-beach railway station sits along the waterfront just outside of Bexhill in East Sussex. It’s served by the East Coastway Line which is managed along the with the station by Southern. The station was opened in the early 20th century as Cooden Golf Halt to serve the newly built waterfront properties. Two decades later, it changed its name to Cooden Halt and then Cooden Beach shortly after. It’s an unstaffed station with two platforms and vending machines to buy tickets. The old ticket office was turned into a mini supermarket, but in 2008, it was sold off and a new ticket office was constructed. In peak hours, there are two direct services an hour to Hastings in 15 minutes, a direct departure to Brighton in 1 hour 4 minutes, and a convenient direct hourly train to London Gatwick in 1 hour 11 minutes.
When you arrive in Cooden-beach, you’ll be just a stone’s throw from a vast swath of beach that runs up the Southern British coastline. Alternatively, if you’ve brought your clubs, you can practise your swing at the large Cooden Beach Golf Club.
