Trains to Church Stretton

Church Stretton train station first opened in 1852, however, in 1914 the station was moved and is now located south of the Sandford Avenue road bridge. Church Stretton station has two platforms, platform one is used for northbound trains, and platform two is for southbound trains. A footbridge connects the two platforms, and passenger shelters are in use. The station has been unmanned since 1967. However, there is a ticket machine available on platform 1. The station is well cared for by a group of volunteers, and the main footbridge was renovated in 2013.  

Church Stretton station is the highest station in Shropshire and a direct train to Shrewsbury can take just 13 minutes. You can head northbound to Manchester Piccadilly from the station or southbound to Cardiff. All trains from Church Stretton are operated by Arriva Trains Wales. Church Stretton itself is a busy market town where you can spend your time checking out the independent shops or walking in the Shropshire hills.
