Cardonald train station is situated on the Inverclyde Line in the Cardonald area of Glasgow. The station and train services are operated by Abellio ScotRail. Originally named Moss Road from its opening in 1843 until its closure in 1845, Cardonald was not known by its current name until it reopened in 1879. It was part of the Glasgow and Paisley Joint Railway. Today, the station is served by four trains an hour on weekdays and one per hour on Sundays. There are two platforms at Cardonald train station. Platform two can be accessed from the car park by a small ramp but platform one is over a footbridge with steps. There are small shelters with seating areas on both sides and a staffed ticket office near the station entrance. Cardonald itself, formerly a village, is a suburb to the southwest of Glasgow. Bus links provide local transport connections, and Junction 25 of the M8 is nearby.
