Bures train station serves the village of Bures with trains running on the Gainsborough Line branch of the Great Eastern Main Line. The station originally opened in 1849 as part of the Stour Valley Railway; today it is managed by Greater Anglia. The usual off-peak services from Bures are hourly, though passengers should note that some trains to Bures stop by request only.

It connects the village of Bures with Marks Tey, with a journey time of 12 minutes, and with Sudbury in a time of 8 minutes. Located in an attractive residential area, the single platform at Bures is lined with trees on both sides. The platform has seats for waiting passengers and a basic shelter in a small wooden hut which has stood at the station for many years. A larger station building once stood nearby, over three floors high and topped with a belfry which housed the train arrival bell.
