Originally opened in 1872 as a stop on the Stoke Newington & Edmonton Railway, the station today is part of the London Overground Network and is located in Travelcard zone 3. The station itself is accessed via concrete steps, which replaced the earlier wooden ones in the 1980s. Several other parts of the station have been removed or replaced, including the roof over the northbound platform which has since been rebuilt in the original style.
