The Bromborough area of Wirral is served by two train stations: Bromborough and Bromborough Rake. Bromborough train station first opened in 1841 and began offering direct services to Liverpool from 1985. Today, there are direct services to Chester and Ellesmere Port, with fastest journey times of 18 minutes and 15 minutes respectively. Trains from Bromborough to Liverpool Central take 26 minutes.

The village of Bromborough is considered a possible location for the Battle of Brunanburh in 937: an important event which is sometimes credited with the origin of English nationalism. A reconstructed Anglo Saxon cross is displayed in a local parish church.

Bromborough train station is staffed and has a ticket counter, vending machine and live passenger information. There is access to both platforms via stairs or stepped ramps. There is a regular weekday service; trains running between Liverpool and Chester depart every 15 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays, and half-hourly during evenings and Sundays.
