Trains to Blaydon

Located in Tyne and Wear only five miles west of Newcastle Central, Blaydon train station serves the town of Blaydon with regular Northern trains along the Tyne Valley Line. Trains from Blaydon operate roughly every two hours in each direction along the Middlesbrough to Hexham service; extra trains depart at peak times. On Sundays, through trains from Blaydon to Nunthorpe do not run; trains do run to Newcastle with fair regularity, where connections for Nunthorpe and Hexham are available.

Facilities at Blaydon are minimal. The station is unmanned and there are no ticketing provisions, so all tickets must be purchased prior to travel or on the train from a ticket agent. Both platforms have basic shelters; passengers requiring step-free interchange should note that Blaydon’s platforms are accessible from one another via footbridge. While the westbound platform 2 towards Hexham does have step-free access, the eastbound platform towards Nunthorpe and Middlesborough is accessible only via footbridge.
