Trains to Blantyre

The Blantyre train station serves the burgh of Blantyre, about two miles from Hamilton, in South Lanarkshire with service via the Argyle Line. Just under nine miles southeast of Glasgow Central, Blantyre Station sees frequent service provided by Abellio ScotRail with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport. Trains from Blantyre depart approximately once every 15 minutes during weekday off-peak periods, Monday through Saturday; northbound trains from Blantyre run alternately to Dalmuir via Yoker and Milngavie. Southbound, two trains operate to Larkhall and two to Motherwell; one Motherwell train each hour extends to Cumbernauld via Whifflet. Sundays see twice-hourly service between Motherwell and Milngavie and hourly service between Balloch and Larkhall.

Blantyre Station’s original Victorian buildings were replaced in the 1970s with a modern station building, which is today staffed during service hours (excepting Sundays). Ticket machines are also available at the station. Departure and arrival screens, automated announcements with train-running information, and step-free access via ramp are provided for passenger use. Waiting areas with seating are present on both platforms.
