Trains to Birkenhead Hamilton Square

Often known simply as ‘Hamilton Square’, Birkenhead Hamilton Square train station is one of several stations serving the Birkenhead area of Wirral via Merseyrail’s Wirral Lines. The station is one of few on the Wirral line to be entirely underground; both platforms are reached step-free via lifts from the surface. During weekdays, trains from Hamilton Square operate every five minutes to James Street and the Liverpool City Centre loop line. Trains in the opposite direction operate every 15 minutes to New Brighton, West Kirby, Chester, and every thirty minutes to Ellesmere Port. During evenings and on Sundays, these services operate every 30 minutes; travel time to Liverpool remains steady at approximately five minutes.

Hamilton Square Station is staffed during all opening hours, as is typical of Merseyrail stations. Platforms are outfitted with CCTV, payphones, ATMs, a booking office, a ticket machine, live departure and arrival screens, and secure storage for cycles. A small shop with amenities is available in the booking hall. There's free wifi throughout the station.
