The 2-platform Belle Vue train station serves the area of Belle Vue in Gorton, the city of Manchester. A historic station originally built to serve Midland Railway’s main line express from London, the station diminished following the closure of Belle Vue Zoological Gardens in the 1980s. As a result, today the station has only two of its original four platforms, and the original station buildings are no longer extant.
The station lies on Northern’s Hope Valley Line. Trains from Belle Vue depart every two hours on weekdays in both directions, continuing from Belle Vue northbound to Manchester Piccadilly and southbound to New Mills Central. At peak times, additional trains call at Belle Vue. On Saturdays, additional services run to Rose Hill Marple on a similar timeline, while no trains run on Sundays. The station’s modern facilities include standard waiting shelters, train timetables, and customer help points via telephone. Seating is available on the Manchester-bound platform 2.
