Close to the East Sussex border in Kent, Ashurst Railway Station provides rail connections from the village of Ashurst to London Bridge and Uckfield. Originally constructed as a staffed station for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway along the Oxted Line, Ashurst Station was destaffed in 1970 and the original buildings demolished in 1983. Today the station remains an important throughpoint for passengers along the Uckfield Branch of the Oxted Line, with typical off-peak trains from Ashurst running once an hour to London Bridge via Oxted and once an hour to Uckfield.
Today unstaffed, Ashurst Railway Station has smartcard validators and customer help points. There is a PERTIS machine on platform 2, and seats and shelters are available for customer use on both platforms. Ashurst Station is a very short walk from the village centre, and fewer than five miles from Tunbridge Wells. Buses between Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead stop along the main road near the station.
