Tucked along the Sunshine Coast Line in the East of England, Alresford Railway Station serves the village of Alresford, Essex. Located 57 miles down line from London Liverpool Street, Alresford Station was first opened in the 1860s by Tendring Hundred Railway. Today the station has two platforms serving destinations in both London and the south. The station is equipped with self-serve ticket machines, smartcard validators, and departure and arrival screens. Step-free access is available to both platforms, as are ramps for train access. Although the original station building is disused, tickets are sold from a small cabin close to Station Road.
Trains to Alresford Station call once an hour, Monday through Sunday, to all destinations from Colchester to Walton-on-the-Naze. On Sundays, northbound trains serve Alresford station to London, Stratford, and other stations, and southbound to Clacton-on-Sea. At peak times, additional services operate between London Liverpool Street and Clacton-on-Sea. Local buses serve Colchester, Clacton, and Brightlingsea.
