Allens West Railway Station serves the town of Eaglescliffe in Stockton-on-Tees, connecting the town with Middlesborough to the east and Darlington to the west via the Tees Valley Line. The station was originally constructed during the Second World War to serve a nearby Royal Navy depot, but later became an advertised station for public use in the early 1970s.
Today operated by Northern, Allens West station is unmanned and has no permanent buildings except for standard waiting shelters on each platform. In 2013, an improvement package brought fully lit waiting shelters, digital CIS displays, and CCTV to Allens West station. Both platforms have step-free access, and tickets may be purchased prior to travel or on the train. Monday through Saturday, two trains an hour serve both westbound trains for Darlington and eastbound to Middlesbrough and Saltburn. Every two hours off-peak and once an hour during peak times, westbound trains continue past Darlington to Bishop Auckland. On Sundays, there is an hourly service in each direction.
