Alexandra Parade train station is situated in Glasgow, just over a mile east of Glasgow’s Queen Street station which can be reached in around 10 minutes. Glasgow Central, with connections to Edinburgh and the south, is a 23 minute train journey.
The station was originally built as part of the City of Glasgow Union Railway, formed in 1864 to connect railways on the north and south of the river Clyde. It is now part of the North Clyde Line.
Alexandra Parade railway station is located next to Alexandra Park, which can be accessed by pedestrians via the gates on Alexandra Parade. The park itself was opened in 1870 and provides a pleasant and relaxing space in the heart of the city; it contains a golf course, bowling greens, playgrounds and public toilets. Views from the highest points in the park stretch from Ben Lomond in the north to the Tinto Hills in the south.
Both platforms at the station are accessed by steps from Alexandra Parade. Trains visit Alexandra Parade train station twice an hour from each direction on weekdays and Saturdays, and once hourly on Sundays.
