Milano Centrale station is the most important railway hub of the “capital of Lombardy” and the second-most-important in Italy, carrying up to 120 million passengers every year. More than 800 trains pass through the 24 railway tracks every day from regional to EuroCity, intercity and high-speed national and international trains. The train companies managing services that pass through Milano Centrale include Trenitalia, Italo Treno, SNCF, OBB and many others. From Milan Central you can reach Turin in 45 minutes, Bologna in just one hour and Rome in just under 3 hours via the high-speed Frecciarossa and Italo EVO trains. Although the Milanese metropolis is served by other stops, such as Rogoredo and Porta Garibaldi, the centre of Milan is more easily reached from the central station, making it the ideal stop for a short visit to the city.

By tube: the best tube station is Centrale FS and can be reached with line M2 (green) and M3 (yellow). The urban ticket costs €1.50. It’s possible to reach the railway stations of Milan Porta Garibaldi, Milan Linate and Milano Porta Genova via the M2 (green) underground. With the M3 line (yellow) you can reach the Milano Rogoredo station. To reach Milan Cadorna Station, take the M3 (yellow) line and change to the M1 (red) line at the Duomo stop.
Tram: if you are travelling by tram. the best stops to get to the station are lines 5, 9 and 10.
Bus: Numerous buses leave from the square on the left side of the station (if you have the station behind you) heading to the airports of Milan Malpensa and Bergamo Orio al Serio.
Taxis: Taxis are located at the exit on the left (if you have the station behind you), near the bus station. You will find taxis available at any time of the day or night. The initial costs of the service are as follows: weekdays: €3.30, public holidays: €5.40, nights: €6.50. For Milan Malpensa airport, a flat rate of €95 is requested. The average cost from Milan Central to Linate Airport by taxi is about € 40.
From Milan Central Station you can reach Piazza Duomo on foot, by taxi or by public transport.
If you choose to walk, you can reach the Dome in about 30 minutes: while walking, you’ll be able to admire Piazza Duca d'Aosta, Piazza della Repubblica and the fascinating Galleria Vittorio Emanuele while on the way to your destination.
If you don’t feel like walking, you can take the underground (line 3 - yellow) towards San Donato for 4 stops (about 6 minutes) and get off at Duomo. To reach the entrance of the tube station, follow the signs for the “Metro” (short for Metropolitana).

From Milan Central Station, it’s possible to reach Malpensa international Airport with a regular regional train or with an express train:
Malpensa Express Train (MXP):
These are faster trains that stop at Milan Porta Garibaldi, Milan Bovisa, Saronno, Busto Arsizio Nord and Malpensa Aeroporto T1. The train leaves from Milan Central Station every hour at 25 and 55 past the hour – from 5:25 until 23:25. From Malpensa Terminal 2, trains depart at 07 and 37 past the hour from 04:27 to 00:37.

"R" category trains for Malpensa that stop at Milan Porta Garibaldi, Milan Bovisa, Saronno, Rescaldina, Castellanza, Busto Arsizio Nord, Ferno-Lonate Pozzolo and Malpensa Airport T1. Trains leave from Milan Central at 55 past the hour and from Malpensa Airport T1 at 07 past the hour.
Buy your Malpensa Express ticket now at the price of €13 per single journey with no extra cost. Rides are accessible at this special fare only if you arrive or depart from Malpensa. The ticket purchased is unidirectional and is valid for 3 hours from the time of purchase. All Malpensa Express tickets are non-refundable.
A bus service called Air Bus connects Milan Central Station (departures from Piazza Luigi Savoia) with Linate airport every day, with departures every 30 minutes from 06:00 to 24:00. It takes 25 minutes to complete the journey. A one-way ticket cost €5, while return tickets are €9 and single rides for 0-12-year-olds are €2.50. The ticket can be purchased directly on board at no extra charge.
A bus service called Orio Shuttle connects the station (departures from Piazza Luigi Savoia) with Bergamo Orio al Serio airport every day, with departures every 30/40 minutes. The average journey time is 50 minutes and the rates are as follows: €5 for single tickets, €9 for return tickets.

The ticket office and the Trenitalia info point are located on the ground floor of the station and are open every day from 5:50am to 10.20pm. Tickets can be purchased for regional, national and international destinations, group travel and season tickets as well. The ticket office and the Italo info point are located on the ground floor next to the Trenitalia ticket office and are open from 6.05am to 8.30pm. “LeFrecce” high-speed tickets can also be purchased at the Freccia Viaggi point located on the ground floor.
The luggage storage in Milano Centrale is located on the ground floor, on the side of Piazza Luigi di Savoia, and is open every day from 06:00 to 23:00. The deposit rates for each bag are €6.00 for the first 5 hours, €1 for each additional hour from the 6th to the 12th and €0.50 for each additional hour.
