Alnwick Castle

Closest station: Alnmouth

Alnwick Castle in the North East of England welcomed Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Hopkins. The castle’s exterior, as well as interior rooms like its library, were used as filming locations for The Last Knight. You can tour this Northumberland castle and see where Harry Potter and Downton Abbey were also filmed.

Stonehenge 

Closest station: Salisbury

While the real Stonehenge didn’t feature Transformers: The Last Knight, a fake version was constructed near Salisbury Plain.

Monument area of Newcastle upon Tyne

Closest station: Manors

A car chase sped through the Grey’s Monument area of Newcastle upon Tyne, zooming down Grainger Street and Grey Street. 

St Aidan's Church, Seahouses

Though St. Aidan’s Church wasn’t a filming location, it did bring Seahouses a lot of press during filming for Transformers: The Last Knight when Mark Wahlberg attended mass here.

Rievaulx Abbey

Rievaulx Abbey is an 12th-century abbey ruin inside of North York Moors National Park. It was the setting for Camelot where King Arthur addressed his knights.

Bamburgh Region of Northumberland

Closest station: Chathill

Bamburgh Castle’s interiors and exteriors helped create Castle Folgan in Transformers 5. 

Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Gosport, Hampshire

Closest station: Portsmouth Harbour

The HMS Alliance served in the Cold War and the submarine was called upon again in the war against the Decepticons when it featured in The Last Knight. 

St Bartholomew the Great Church, London

Closest station: Farringdon | Barbican

The gorgeous hall from the Sir Edmund Burton castle was actually the St. Bartholomew the Great Church in London, just across the street from Smithfield Market.

Yes, Transformers: The Last Knight was filmed on location in Norway. Production spent time between August and October of 2016 in Preikestolen, Atlanterhavsveien, and Trolltunga.

Will there be a sequel to Transformers: The Last Knight?

No, it’s not likely that we’ll get a sequel to Transformers: The Last Knight. This film was underwhelming at the box office. While two films did follow TTLK — Bumblebee and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts — these were written as prequels to the 2007 Transformers film starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.

Is Unicron in Transformers: The Last Knight?

Yes, Unicron was featured in Transformers: The Last Knight and is more than meets the eye: Unicron is the core of planet Earth. Unicron was also featured in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. 

What happened to Optimus in The Last Knight?

Optimus Prime left Earth in The Last Knight and returned to Cybertron. After discovering that he caused his home planet’s death, Optimus is brainwashed by Quintessa and returns to Earth in search of an artifact that can resurrect it. Eventually, Optimus breaks free from the spells, leads the Autobots in defeating the Decepticons and Infernocons, and encourages the Autobots to rebuild Cybertron together.

Did the Autobots leave Earth at the end of The Last Knight?

Yes, after the Autobots prevent the destruction of Unicron — aka Earth — Optimus Prime calls upon all Autobots to return to their home planet of Cybertron and rebuild it. 

Is Megatron still alive after The Last Knight?

In the third act of Transformers: The Last Knight, Megatron and Optimus Prime once again go toe to toe. The fight ends with Optimus slicing Megatron’s arm off and punting him through an ignition chamber. However, we don’t see him actually die. It’s a solid bet that, like in Transformers: Age of Extinction, he survives. But we’ll probably never know since a sequel is unlikely. 

Is there a new Transformers movie coming out in 2024?

Yes, Transformers One was released on September 20, 2024. It’s an animated film rated PG, telling the origin story of Megatron and Optimus Prime. Listen closely and you’ll hear Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson (Asteroid City), Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm (Black Mirror), Steve Buscemi, and Laurence Fishburne (Mission: Impossible III) as the starring cast.
