Ludlow Castle

Birmingham New Street to Ludlow: 1h 35m

Located in Shropshire, Ludlow Castle was among the first The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin filming locations used for the pilot. This Norman castle is also one of the few spots outside of Kent used for a Dick Turpin filming location.

Chiddingstone

London Blackfriars to Penshurst: from 45m

Chiddingstone was another choice filming location for The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin thanks to its Tudor-style buildings that are over 200 years old. Head into The Castle Inn and you’ll find “The Last Drop pub”.

Fort Amherst

London St Pancras to Chatham: 40m 

Fort Amherst in Chatham got to portray the Syndicate’s prison and Baron’s crypt for Dick Turpin. The fort was originally built in 1756 to protect against invading French troops.

Over the centuries, his story has been flubbed, fiddled with, and fictionalized, so much so that his romanticized mythic persona is far and wide more well-known than his actual crimes.

The character of Dick Turpin is based on the real-life English highwayman of the same name. The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, however, gives the plot away in its title. The six-episode series is a fictional account of Dick Turpin had he escaped his hanging.
