One of the most well-known and favorite ice rinks in London is at the cultural and creative arts venue, Somerset House. The courtyard of the awe-inspiring Neoclassical building transforms into an ice rink, complete with contemporary music and tasty food and drink. Skating lessons are available through Skate School, and DJs play tunes rink-side.

Ice Rink Canary Wharf

The seasonal ice rink at Canary Wharf, London's longest running, has returned for a magical 18 weeks. Located in the east, it’s a good choice for those looking to avoid the burgeoning Christmas crowds of central London. The cozy Grandstand Bar, just the place to warm up or cool down after a session on the ice, offers a variety of drinks and light bites, plus the best rink-side views.

Alexandra Palace Ice Rink

The Alexandra Palace Ice Rink is a permanent fixture set against the backdrop of one of North London’s most iconic buildings. Nicknamed “Ally Pally”, the venue becomes a festive paradise, offering seasonal treats like Baileys hot chocolate, mulled wine, and mince pies to munch on between gliding forays around the rink. Selected dates also feature a disco dance floor.

The Queen’s House Ice Rink

The Queen’s House Ice Rink offers a magical open-air ice-skating experience in the heart of Greenwich. The rink is surrounded by historic architecture, with views of Greenwich Park to the south and the lights of Canary Wharf to the north, providing a backdrop of some of the best views in London. 

Glide at Battersea Power Station

One of the latest additions to London’s winter ice-skating scene can be found at the newly reopened Battersea Power Station. As London’s only riverside ice-skating rink, enjoy views of the Thames as you glide across not just one, but three interconnecting ice rinks. Add the sparkling 30-foot Christmas tree, The Glass House Bar, vintage-style fairground rides, and live performances to the mix and you’ve got a festive vibe you won’t soon forget.

Hyde Park’s festive Winter Wonderland

The UK’s largest open-air ice rink is set in Hyde Park’s festive Winter Wonderland, encircling the charming Victorian bandstand. The Magical Lodge offers a cozy retreat with heaters and blankets, serving hot drinks and food while providing a view of the rink for folks who prefer to sit out and watch. 

Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink

If you're up for a short thirty-minute train journey from Central London to Surrey, the Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink makes the trip worthwhile. Known as one of the most breathtaking royal palaces globally, Hampton Court offers much more than just ice skating. Once you arrive at Hampton Court Station, take the time to explore the historic Tudor palace, and afterwards, cozy up at the bar or café. Be sure to book your tickets in advance.
