Is ABBA Voyage London worth it?

Yes, ABBA Voyage London is worth it for fans of ABBA for two reasons. First, it’s a fun way for ABBA fans new and old to sing along to the hits that still stream today. From a technical aspect, the ABBA Voyage show is a groundbreaking format and is as much of a spectacle as it is a music show.

Are ABBA actually performing at ABBA Voyage?

No, ABBA are not performing during ABBA Voyage. Their likenesses are mere “ABBAtars” and their moves were pre-recorded via motion-capture. The band did work with producers to create these augmented reality versions of themselves because they didn’t want the limitations of aging to prevent fans from experiencing a high-quality ABBA performance.

How do I get to ABBA Voyage from Central London?

Getting to ABBA Voyage from Central London is simple, thanks to the Pudding Mill Lane DLR station which has a front row seat to the ABBA Arena. The DLR Line ends at the Bank Underground Station in London. This station also serves the Central (red), Northern (black), and Waterloo & City (turquoise) Lines. The Northern Line cuts through Central London neighborhoods like Camden Town, Soho, and Covent Garden, getting you to ABBA Voyage as swiftly as possible.

How do the ABBA Voyage avatars work?

The avatars relied on technology that countless movies and television shows use: motion capture. The band was filmed wearing mocap suits and their images were altered to resemble their younger selves. The real trick, though, is that these avatars look as good as they do because the entire stage and its surroundings were built for the experience. Instead of watching an avatar projected onto a temporary stage (like at a festival) or a versatile venue stage (like in a concert hall), ABBA Voyage takes place in an area that was custom-built for the show.

Do people dress up to see ABBA Voyage?

Wondering what to wear to ABBA Voyage? There is no dress code at the venue, so you’re free to come as you are. But this is ABBA, not Nirvana — so expect dozens of folks decked out in groovy suits, platform boots, and a mix-match of outrageously vibrant clothing.

Can you stand up and dance at ABBA Voyage?

Do you have to dance at ABBA Voyage? Of course not. Will you want to dance while on the standing-room-only dance floor? Absolutely. Whether you’re young and sweet and only 17 or if you remember seeing the Swedish pop group when they took the world by storm in the ‘70s, you’re welcome to stand up and dance at ABBA Voyage.

If you want to dust off your bell bottoms and your dance moves, here’s the setlist of songs to expect:

  • The Visitors
  • Hole in Your Soul
  • SOS
  • Knowing Me, Knowing You
  • Chiquitita
  • Fernando
  • Mamma Mia
  • Does Your Mother Know
  • Eagle
  • Lay All Your Love on Me
  • Summer Night City
  • Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
  • Voulez-vous
  • When All is Said and Done
  • Don’t Shut Me Down
  • I Still Have Faith in You

Not seeing that song that made you swoon over Björn and Benny on this list? Honey, honey, have hope. The band recorded motion capture for songs left off of this setlist and there’s a chance that these songs will make it into the ABBA Voyage show soon enough.

We’ll bet money that "Take A Chance on Me" is waiting in the wings…
