Steak, fries, and salad.
You’ve watched the reels about the French restaurant that serves only steak and fries.
You’ve seen the TikToks about the London restaurant that has one menu item.
If that’s not a mouthwatering sign to visit Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte, we don’t know what is.
Here’s the story behind Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte, the French restaurant in London, Paris, Monaco, New York, and Mexico City that indeed serves only one meal on the menu: steak, fries, and salad.

The story behind Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte
Few people open a restaurant planning to serve just one meal, but there aren’t too many like Paul Gineste de Saurs.
This French winemaker wanted to grow beyond his vineyards and found an opportunity to buy a restaurant space in Paris in 1959. Not much of a restaurateur, but certainly someone who loved good food, de Saurs decided to keep it small and simple: he’d serve only high-quality steak, fries, and salad.
Plus his special sauce, of course.
As for the name? "Relais de Venise" was the name of the former restaurant in this space and its neon sign still hung outside. The new restaurateur kept his costs low by simply keeping the name and adding “Son Entrecôte.”
De Saurs didn’t stop with L’Entrecôte in Paris. London followed with one location in Marylebone and another in the city center, with additional locations opening in Monaco, New York City, and Mexico City.
Since 1959, L'Entrecôte has dished out the same world-famous grilled beef steak, crispy French fries, special sauce, and a crunchy green salad with a mustard vinaigrette and walnuts. No substitutions are accepted, but you can order your steak to your liking. You can also add a French wine and dessert if you want to sample their menu from top to bottom.
What food should you order at Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte?
The world-famous Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte is known for having only one menu option: steak and fries (or steak and chips to the British). You can order a grilled beef steak to your preferred temperature, which comes with fries and a salad.
Can you book a table at L’Entrecôte?
Even though L’Entrecôte is world-famous, you don’t need to be an A-lister to get a table. In fact, you don’t need to make a reservation at all. All L'Entrecôte restaurants in London, Paris, New York and Mexico City are first-come, first-serve, so you’ve got to queue up with the other hungry diners.
Can you make substitutions at Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte?
Sorry, you can’t waltz into Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte and swap your fries for tater tots or get a meat-free steak. L’Entrecôte is special because it sells only a single steak-frites meal.
