Picture this. You’re running out of things to do in Milan (though we doubt it: check out our food lover's guide to Milan if you need more inspo). You’re looking for somewhere else to explore.

You’ve always dreamed of traveling to a sunny Italian island, soaking up the sun and enjoying an aperitivo by the water.

What if we told you it was possible to travel from Milan to Ischia, Capri, or Procida with just one combined train and ferry ticket?

That island isn’t just a dream anymore, is it?

Traveling to Ischia, Capri or Procida by Frecciarossa and SNAV ferry

Who needs to fly across Italy when it’s easy to hop on a high-speed Frecciarossa train to travel the length and breadth of the country? Forget about a rental car too—exploring Italy by train is the way to go.

The first step on your trip to any of the islands near Naples is to catch a train from one of Italy’s major cities to Naples. Luckily, that’s easy with Frecciarossa. Whether you’ve flown into the Italian capital of Rome or you’ve arrived further north in Milan, Frecciarossa trains can take you to Naples in almost no time.

You’ll arrive at Naples Central station (Napoli Centrale to the locals). From here, it’s a short bus ride to the port.

Finally, hop on an SNAV or Alilauro ferry and sit back as you’re whisked off to the Italian island of your dreams.

Sound complicated? It doesn’t have to be! Trenitalia has partnered with SNAV and Alilauro to offer a combined ticket for these types of journeys, so you can buy your train ticket, bus journey and ferry ticket in one go. Find out more about SNAV and Alilauro.

Head to our Journey Planner and pick a day and time to suit you. Look out for tickets with the ferry journey included.  If you’re feeling fancy, why not upgrade to Business Class or Executive Class, the exclusive First Class offerings on Frecciarossa trains?

What can I do in Capri?

Since Capri is an island, it’s popular for tourists to take a boat trip around the island. You can take in some of the island’s gorgeous scenery (including its caves!). If you’d rather stay on dry land and you’re a fan of seeing where your favorite TV series were filmed, Capri is a must-see—it was used as one of the Italian filming locations for Netflix series Ripley.

Why should I go to Ischia?

If you’re searching for a laid-back vacation, sipping on ice-cold drinks and relaxing with your friends or family, look no further than Ischia. This island, with its gloriously multi-colored buildings, is perhaps one of Italy’s lesser-known spots, but that’s no reason for you to avoid it. Take a chance on your own summer adventure and head down to Ischia!

Prove to me I should go to Procida

Italy’s Capital of Culture in 2022, Procida offers up a range of pretty beaches and luscious landscapes to woo even the most seasoned traveler. You can wander around at your own pace and discover an island filled with history—or simply find a restaurant and enjoy the local delicacies!

Island hopping

Something all three of these islands have in common when it comes to vacationing is a slower pace than some of Italy’s large cities. Rush away from the hustle and bustle of Rome or Milan on a high-speed Frecciarossa train, then slow it down and take your time enjoying the delights that Ischia, Capri or Procida has to offer.
